Photos – Lots of Docks Ormond Beach Florida

Lots of Docks

I published a photo of the day this morning – Christmas Eve Sunrise Over The Halifax River. After I took that photo, I went to the other side of the river and shot about 30 more images.

I was struck by the lines of all these docks along the river looking south. These are private docks attached to some of the most spectacular river homes in Ormond Beach. I am showing two images in this post. The first is the original image and the second is an image I digitally created.

I was struck by the lines of the docks and the first photo just doesn’t highlight what I was trying to capture. That’s why I went to Tiffen Dfx and added a filter to the image. I added an antique filter and then went back to Photoshop. In Photoshop, I used the PhotoFrame plugin from OnOne Software to add the frame.

The second photo shows the lines of the docks forming an intricate and seemingly endlessly repeating pattern.

Yes, I use software to change images in an attempt to communicate specific messages. I came to photography late. I’ve probably taken less than 1,000 film images. I shoot more digital images than that in a month, sometimes in a week. I love the instant gratification of seeing the changes in real time and being able to post or print images in a flash. I’m not pretending to be an artist. I trying to communicate what I find interesting and beautiful. Hey, maybe that’s art?

Photo Information: Olympus E-520, 1/320 sec., f/6.3, ISO 100, 86mm using a 40-150mm lens.

Software used to process the image: Adobe Photoshop, Tiffen Dfx v2.0, OnOne Professional Photoframe
