Photo of the Day – Ormond Beach Florida Sunrise

One morning in November, I woke up early, about an hour before sunrise and headed out to the beach. It was overcast and I waited for about and hour before the clouds parted and I got this shot.

Christmas Eve Florida Sunrise

It was a cold and dreary morning. This shot was taken at the lifeguard station about 3 miles north of Granada Blvd. I like the way the gold touch the shoreline and the beach. I wasn’t sure the cloud would ever break, but when they finally did I got this shot. This is not the greatest shot, but it was the best I was going to get that day.

I used the Olympus E-520 with a 40-150mm lens at 50mm. I don’t go out to the beach with this camera so this was shot in the parking lot of the lifeguard station. The E-520 is not sealed so sand or salt spray would lead to rapid death. It’s not good for the lens either. I now have the Olympus Stylus Tough 6000 sealed, waterproof camera for walking out on to the beach. The Olympus E-1 is sealed, but it’s a little rich for my budget.

Photo Info: Olympus E-520, 1/200 sec., f/4.5, ISO 400, 40-150mm lens at 50mm.
